Hi, I’m Sam Rowlands, one of the lead coaches and personal trainers here at Functional Fitness St. Andrews.
After graduating from Bath University with a BSc Hon degree in Social Sciences, working for various charities as both an outreach and youth development worker, I finally decided to follow my dream of being able to combine my life long passion for Fitness with trying to help others.
My passion and knowledge of fitness started in my mid teens whilst playing academy Rugby in Wales, and later semi professionally in England. My career in the Fitness Industry started as a Fitness Instructor at David Lloyd leisure in Edinburgh in the summer of 2012, before I then worked as the lead strength and conditioning coach for all elite senior Hockey and Rugby players at Stewart’s Melville College.
I then started up my own personal training business, finding clients myself through social media and word of mouth, as well as running a variety of classes and being in charge of programming these classes, from an independent gym in Edinburgh.
I was lucky enough to build and then successfully maintain my network of wonderful clients for 18 months, and now I am very excited to be part of the Functional Fitness St. Andrews team.
As a personal trainer you can expect someone who is empathetic, fun, someone who is incredibly passionate about fitness and helping others see what they are capable of, and someone who is 100% committed to ensuring that when you leave the gym, even after our first session, that you will feel confident, empowered, and that you can no doubt reach your full potential, one step at a time, even if you’ve never put on a pair of trainers in your life.
Please contact me here, or you can check out my Facebook page “Sam Rowlands at Functional Fitness St. Andrews” for more info, including client reviews and videos of sessions.
You can expect a program and style of coaching designed to benefit you and you alone, training that is varied, fun, specific to your vision and coaching to the highest standards of basic and advanced compound movements, movements that are combined to make you fitter, stronger and that will support a better quality of life.
